Il relate les études de cas sur la gestion et le management de la pollution de l'air dans différents pays en développement et pays industrialisés mais aussi les stratégies de contrôle utilisées ou proposées par émissions des moteurs de véhicule. Le problème est vu dans le contexte du développement durable dans lequel la prévention sanitaire, la protection de l'environnement sont les principales concernées. La première partie développe le problème de la santé causé par la pollution des moteurs de véhicule et comment les populations sont exposées à ces maladies. La deuxième partie se consacre aux conclusions et recommandations pour asseoir une vraie politique de prévention de cette pollution.
