We support women in their own right, because liberating women is key to the broader transformation of a world that still subjects most of its women to the drudgery of extreme poverty, to the destructiveness of militarism and to the strictures of religious fundamentalism, both "out there" and much closer to home. While economic globalization has deepanded the material inequalities that make it so hard to achieve social justice, the liberationist principals that underlie our grantmaking offer us new possibilities, as we cultivate an ethos that challenges global inequalities in principle and in practice.
