| Index. décimale : | 111.1 ONG ET DÉVELOPPEMENT | Résumé : | This is the story of collaborative effort of African NGOs to engage the world Bank and etablish meaningful dialogue. This effort was built on a series of five major consultations and the preparation of reseach papers. For the developing world, and Africa in particular, the establishment of such a dialogue is essential. Each consultation was convened by one of the members of the Africa Region of the NGOWGWB. This demostrates the emerging interest in increasing understarding of the influence of the bretton Woods Institutions on African economic policies and economies and ultimately, their impact on the economic future of the citizens of those countries. Much has been said critiquing the world Bank and its activities, but much less on what NGOs are trying to do. The NGOS who have contributed are many, but the key players are the conveners who made these activities happen. The present compilation of issue papers, discussion papers and reports document s a series of African NGO-led consultations that began in early 1994. Above all it is a modest attempt to demstrate the collective effort a variety of African NGOs to enge the bretton Woods Institutions, particularly the World Bank Africa Region Vice Presidency. It helps to give exposure to various issues of common interest and concern between the Bank and NGOs and lists the demends and requests made by the African NGOs on the IDA 11 Replenishment. | Permalink : | http://enda-cremed.org/bpd/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=30730 |
